SET road show targets Japanese

Deputy Finance Minister Sommai Phasee will join officials from the Stock Exchange of Thailand on a road show to Japan next month to woo Japanese investment to the Thai bourse.
Officials from the central bank and the Fiscal Policy Office, as well as executives from Siam Cement, Electricity Generating and Bumrungrad Hospital, will also attend the meetings, which will be hosted by Capital Nomura Securities and United Securities.The three-day road show will begin on March 10. SET president Patareeya Benjapolchai said Japanese investors were becoming more interested in the Thai bourse. They hold shares in more than 200 listed firms and there are 39 in which they hold stakes that are greater than 5 per cent, Patareeya said. The aim of the road show is to clarify the government's economic policies and provide more information about Thai stocks, she said. The deputy finance minister will also explain the sufficiency economy policy, which aims for sustainable growth. The Thai delegation will meet institutional investors in Tokyo at an event hosted by Capital Nomura Securities' parent firm, Nomura Securities. United Securities will host meetings between the Thai delegation and about 600 individual investors in Osaka and Tokyo. The road show will also make a stop at Daiwa Securities SMBC.
