Decorating with broken glass If you have any broken glass around your house, perhaps from a window smashed by a ball, don't throw it away.

It can become a raw material for home decoration, because www.homeandi.com suggests that you create your own works of art from broken glass.

First, gather up the glass - including all the small bits - and find some glue and acrylic paint in the colours you want. Then select which items around your home you want to decorate with the broken glass. Let's say, for example, you want to change a plain-glass window in your bathroom.

First, use a pen that can write on glass to draw your own design on the window. It can be a flower, a cartoon character - in fact anything you want.

Then, carefully select bits and pieces of the broken glass to glue on to the window, filling in the area of your design as closely as possible. Then wait about 30 minutes for the glue to dry.

Then begin applying the acrylic paint to the broken glass, in the colours that suit your design. Generous application of the paint will take the sharp edges off the broken glass.

You will end up with a colourful decorated bathroom window. It will look like stained glass, but will come at a fraction of the cost.
