True's phone booth top-ups

Prepaid mobile-phone subscribers of True Move can now top up their call value at 18,000 public phone booths of True Corp in the Bangkok area.

True Corp's wireline voice service director Vasu Kunvasi said yesterday that the service would provide convenience to subscribers and show that public phones could provide a value-added service.

Subscribers can top up at 18,000 phone booths bearing a "top-up" sticker, out of True's total of 26,000 booths.

The call values they can top up are Bt10, Bt20 and Bt30.

True Move will share revenue with its parent True Corp for utilising its phone booths.

Vasu said True Corp was considering expanding the top-up service through public phones to cover customers of all its units, which range from the cellular business to broadband Internet and pay-TV.

True Move has over seven million mobile-phone subscribers. It had 6.272 million prepaid subscribers and 487,601 post-paid clients as of the third quarter last year.

True Corp has a plan to expand

its public-phone coverage through

its subsidiary, True Public Communication, which won a

licence from the National Telecommunications Commission to operate a public-phone service nationwide.
