No Chanvit, no problem, says Zico

[SOCCER] Veteran striker Kiartisak "Zico" Senamuang believes Thailand will be able to cope with the departure of national coach Chanvit Pholchivin, who is to take over at Vietnam's V-League outfit Dong Thap.
After considerable speculation about his future after reports about the interest from Vietnam last month, Chanvit, who steered Thailand to a runners-up spot in the recent Asean Football Championship, revealed on Monday he decided to accept the V-League newcomer's offer. Considering that Chanvit played an important role in contributing to the revival of the national team after a turbulent period between 2004 and 2005, which saw four coaches including Brazil's Carlos Roberto Carvalho come and go in barely a year, many expect that the loss of such a valuable asset would take the wind out of Thailand's sails. However, the evergreen striker Kiartisak who announced his comeback to the national team after more than two years in exile with success in the King's Cup tournament in December is convinced Thailand can adapt to life without Chanvit. "The departure of Chanvit inevitably will have an impact on the team. I don't think it will be too serious to cause us a problem because Chanvit has been at the helm for a relatively shot period," said the 34-year-old. "I'm convinced another Thai coach can succeed after what Chanvit has done," added Kiartisak, who revealed he would fly to Germany tomorrow to receive treatment on a right knee ligament injury.
