Thai exporters visit paper fair

The Thai-German Programme for Enterprise Competitiveness, German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) and the Environmental Quality Promotion Department took exporters of Thai mulberry paper to exhibit their products at Paper World Fair 2007, a leading trade fair for paper production and products held recently in Frankfurt, Germany.

The Thai exporters displayed their products to about 66,000 visitors and met with potential trade partners.

They also travelled to Berlin to observe the local production of handmade paper for an exchange of information, met retailers and importers and visited design studios.

GTZ Thailand country director Juergen Koch said, "This trip was very beneficial to Thai entrepreneurs. It enabled them to develop their products and open new markets. The trip was one of many activities in which GTZ Thailand has successfully cooperated with Thai partners to enhance competitiveness of the sa paper industry."

Southeast Asia's biggest sa paper exporter, Thailand now exports Bt2 billion to Bt3 billion of sa paper annually, and further growth is expected.
