TC Union launches products

TC Union Global, a manufacturer of food supplements and hangover relievers, plans to introduce three new product lines this year, focusing on stimulating consumer spending in the present economic slow-down.
The company markets three product groups: food supplements claimed to enhance beauty, called Blink and Slim; Omex health food supplements; and a hangover relief preparation called Wakie. The new products to be released this year will be cosmetics, beverages and single-vitamin food supplements, according to the company's managing director Piti Kittithirapornchai. The cosmetics, including whitening, anti-ageing and eye creams under the Blink brand, will be launched later this year, and Bt50 million has been set aside for marketing. The new beverage products, using the Blink and Wakie brands, will be a drink for "inner beauty" and a Wakie beverage containing fruit juice and other ingredients to relieve hangovers. New single-vitamin food supplements will also be launched under the Omex brand. Piti said the food supplements market (excluding direct-sale products) was worth about Bt2 billion. Last year, the market fell by 20 per cent to 25 per cent and this year it is expected to be flat. TC Union Global's marketing budget for 2007 is Bt100 million, up from Bt80 million last year. It is aiming for 20-per-cent growth in sales, up from Bt250 million.
