Test centre to assist developers

The Software Industry Promotion Agency (Sipa) has worked with the National Electronics and Computer Technology Center (Nectec) to set up a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) test centre this year, to provide infrastructure to software and hardware developers.

Santi Suraratana, vice president of technology research and development at Sipa, said the test centre would support local developers of RFID software and hardware. The centre will implement infrastructure, a simulation environment, and lab tests for developers who want to test their finished products and software before they provide RFID hardware such as design tags, RFID readers as well as RFID programs and services to the market.

"The centre will create confidence amongst developers as they test their RFID products and programs to meet quality standards, so they will be able to meet their customers' requirements," said Santi. He said the centre would also make customers more confident when buying local RFID products for use in their businesses.

The RFID test centre will provide full RFID-application testing in a simulated warehouse environment in 2008.
