Sitthichai's 'unofficial' order to sort out TOT

The new chairman of TOT, General Saprang Kalayanamitr, met "unofficially" with Information and Communications Technology Minister Sitthichai Pookaiyaudom yesterday to discuss the state telecom agency's problems.
Sitthichai said he had told Saprang to quickly solve TOT's problems and he will discuss TOT's policy with him "officially" next week. He also asked Saprang to focus on restructuring TOT to improve its competitiveness and create unity within the organisation. The state agency has experienced tough competition from private telecom operators and has been in legal disputes with many private telecom concessionaires. Monthly 'Voyage' Advance Agro, the producer and distributor of Double A brand writing paper, has launched a new monthly travel magazine called Voyage, saying it aims to attract readers to its "tailored contents" and advertising from agencies. Senior executive vice president Charnvit Jarusombathi said the company hoped Voyage would contribute to a passion for magazine reading among Thais. Voyage will be aimed at sophisticated consumers looking for a relaxed lifestyle. He said 50,000 copies will be printed monthly at Thai Wattana Panich and distributed by the Ocean Book Mark.
FedEx's Indian buy FedEx Corp has announced the completion of its acquisition of its Indian service provider, Prakash Air Freight (PAFEX). PAFEX, formerly a privately held company, is one of the largest domestic express companies in India, with more than 384 offices and depots serving nearly 4,400 destinations. It covers every city in India. FedEx Express's president for Europe, the Middle East, the Indian Subcontinent and Africa, Robert Elliott, said continued growth and improvement of express services in India would strengthen the country's infrastructure, enhancing the competitiveness of Indian business and its access to global markets. "Through this acquisition we will have direct control of our pick-up and delivery operations, which will enhance our business flexibility and speed to market," said FedEx Express's president-international, Michael Ducker.
'Skywalk' showrooms Property developer Major Development has opened two "skywalk" showrooms on the site of its luxurious Watermark Chao Phya River condominium project. President Suriyon Poolvoralaks said the project, which will be located on a prime spot of the riverbank and will have a prominent architectural design, would be one of the most spectacular landmarks on the Chao Phya waterfront. The Watermark Chao Phya River, being promoted as a six-star condominium, is costing Bt5.7 billion. It will stand on nearly two hectares of land close to the Taksin (or Sathorn) Bridge, on Charoenkrung Road between Sois 39 and 41. The project is expected to be complete in mid-2008.
