SET kicks off first of seven road shows

The first of seven Stock Exchange of Thailand road shows, with the theme "Invest today for better financial health tomorrow", will be held at the Money Expo Korat 2007 from today until Sunday, at The Mall Department Store, Nakhon Ratchasima.
Money Expo Bangkok will be staged in May and Money Expo Chiang Mai in October. The other four road shows, called Money Channel, will be held each quarter. Venues are Phuket in March, Chiang Mai in June, Udon Thani in August and Khon Kaen in November."In Korat, visitors can enjoy fun activities, a financial check-up from the Thailand Securities Institute and gain greater understanding of stocks, bonds, derivatives and investment units," SET president Patareeya Benjapolchai said. In terms of trading activity, Nakhon Ratchasima leads the northeastern region, with a turnover of Bt36.79 billion in 2006, or Bt3.07 billion a month. Nakorn Ratchasima accounted for 31.73 per cent of trade in the Northeast, totalling B115.95 billion in 2006, or B9.66 billion a month. There are branch offices of 10 securities firms in the city. There will be several SET units and market organisations at the road show, including the Market for Alternative Investment, Bond Electronic Exchange, Thailand Futures Exchange, Thailand Securities Depository, SETTRADE.Com, Family Know-How, Thailand Securities Institute and the Agricultural Futures Exchange of Thailand.
