The trouble with kids of today!

To parents, their children are always little kids. Though the kids are grown-up, they are subject to complaints regardless of age or social position. This happens in all families, including that of Charoen Pokphand Group chairman Dhanin Chearavanont.
True Corp and True Move chief Supachai Chearavanont and his siblings experienced this when they organised the 45th wedding anniversary of their parents. The party took place at a house in Magnolia Estate, where 200 guests were invited. Dhanin's wedding photo was enlarged and posted on a large board. Guests were invited to pose for photos as if they really were there on Dhanin's wedding day. Dhanin was not informed about the party's theme. On the invitation cards, guests were told to dress up in fashions popular 45 years ago. Supachai himself donned a very colourful shirt. His brother Soopakit was in T-shirt and a leather jacket, while another brother Narong also wore a very bright shirt. Dressed in a tidy black suit and tie, Dhanin was displeased when he got out of his car and was greeted by a badly dressed Supachai. But when he entered the party and discovered the theme, he was happy about the lavish preparations. Despite all their criticisms, parents at the end feel nothing but admiration for their children.
More confusionThe reopening of Don Muang brought confusion at the last minute. Twenty hours before the Cabinet was to consider reopening the old airport, Transport Minister Theera Haocharoen said the issue would not be tabled at the Cabinet meeting. But the Cabinet did consider the issue and did approve it. More confusing was that rather than approving the move of only non-transit domestic flights to Don Muang, the Cabinet gave the nod for the operation of both domestic and international flights at the old airport. In less than two months Thailand will operate two international airports. This will only cause more confusion. For outbound travellers, they have to check carefully where their airlines are operating. For inbound travellers, they are advised to check where they will land - Suvarnabhumi or Don Muang. Actually, there will be no complaints if the tickets of airlines operating at Don Muang are cheaper due to lower operating costs. But will that come true? Amid unending confusion now and in the future, I doubt it. achara_d@nationgroup.com
