Sodsri believes no political parties will try to interfere with the referendum for the draft charter - as had been feared - because all of them want to see an early general election.

Sodsri said the EC will also ask political parties to supply updated information as certain important data involving party candidates was unlawfully altered by some corrupt EC officials during last April's general election. The meeting will be held at the Prince Palace Hotel.

The commissioner said the EC would also discuss with party representatives about the return of campaign subsidies to the agency.

The money was given to parties contesting the April 2 election and should have been returned after the polls were invalidated by the court.

Sodsri said yesterday the Democrat and Thai Rak Thai parties had returned the money, but 14 others had yet to do so.

"Some political parties have been dissolved and have been unable to close their budget accounts while some cases are now in court proceedings," she said.
