Krirk-krai to head 5-day trade mission

Commerce Minister Krirk-krai Jirapaet is to lead a group of exporters on a five-day trip to Tunisia, Israel and Egypt later this month in a bid to boost trade and investment in new markets.
The delegation, which leaves on February 20, is to improve the relationship between government and private sectors. Benjawan Ratanaprayul, deputy director-general of the Export Promotion Department said the mission was to promote trade growth in new markets. The department is also planning a trade exhibition to promote export growth in potential markets. To help achieve this, Thailand is to participate in 36 trade exhibitions worldwide. Last year Thai firms took part 30 trade fairs. She said spa services and health products were key businesses to promote, as they were becoming very popular overseas. Part of the department's strategy to promote trade growth will be business-matching between Thai and foreign private sectors. Suwipan Thisyamondol, senior director of the International Marketing Development Office, said rice, consumer goods, autos, auto parts and furniture were in high demand in emerging markets. Trade between Thailand and the three countries to be visited has been fairly small, and its is hoped that the mission will boost commerce and investment.
