Panasonic plumps for PacketLogic

Procera Networks announced last week that Panasonic Thailand had installed its PacketLogic appliances to monitor, control and optimise network traffic at its manufacturing facility in Samut Prakan.
The units are located at the central network operations centre (NOC) to ensure optimal network bandwidth is appropriated to mission-critical applications required to maximise the plant's manufacturing efficiency and productivity. The Panasonic Thailand facility employs more than 4,000 people and produces a combination of home appliances and cooling systems. "We deployed the PacketLogic appliances at the aggregation point of the network traffic coming into the NOC from multiple sites before going out to the Internet in order to control applications which are either not mission-critical or potentially harmful to our manufacturing operations. The IT department gained new network-monitoring capabilities, along with detailed historical statistics of individual IP [information processing] traffic and bandwidth usage through PacketLogic's unique search-and-reporting functionality," said Angkhana Chayatanan, IT Planning/Country Manager at Panasonic Management (Thailand). US-based Procera Networks is a developer of intelligent network traffic and service-management infrastructure equipment.
