iTV appeals for justice over debt

Broadcaster iTV yesterday appealed to Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont for justice over the debt crisis threatening its existence.
According to a filing with the Stock Exchange of Thailand yesterday, iTV has submitted a letter to the premier asking that a payment to the PM's Office within the next 30 days should be limited to an unpaid concession fee of Bt2.21 billion, rather than that fee plus a fine of Bt97.76 billion for breaching its contract. The broadcaster also asked Surayud to change the due date of the repayment of the concession fee. - The Nation.
More classrooms Seri Centre, a shopping complex on Srinakarin Road, has invested Bt20 million in a 2,500-square-metre expansion of the Seri Education Centre on the third floor. There are currently 30 tuition centres on the floor and the shopping mall aims to become an educational hub for children in the area. Four new tuition centres - Kumon, i-Science, English Plus and Jumping Clay - will open at Seri Centre this summer following the expansion. - The Nation.
MICE welcome The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau reports that 150 exhibitors have signed up for AseanMICE 2007, which will be held from March 8 to 11 at the Impact Exhibition and Convention Centre. Bureau director-general Captain Kachit Hannanon said the event would give the public a clearer picture of the meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions industry - from picking a location to choosing an organiser and selecting equipment. - The Nation.
Rayong power Thai National Power (TNP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Britain's International Power, has inaugurated its Bt610-million Rayong plant. The plant, which started operations late last year, is capable of producing 22.4 megawatts of peak-load capacity and will ensure TNP's capacity meets the average annual growth in electricity demand from customers at the nearby Siam Eastern Industrial Park. - The Nation.
Eco-fuel prices Energy Minister Piyasvasti Amranand said the Energy Policy and Planning Office would submit a revised pricing formula for ethanol and biodiesel to the Energy Fund Administration Institute on Monday. The price of gasohol 91 will be set at Bt1.50 lower than benzene 91, the same difference in price between gasohol 95 and petrol 95. Piyasvasti said the price incentive would encourage drivers to switch fuels. On the other hand, biodiesel will be priced Bt3 higher as a way of encouraging refineries to improve its quality. - The Nation.
