12 years for raping 6-year-old
Two domestic helpers were jailed 12 years each yesterday for the sexual assault of their former employer's six-year-old stepdaughter in late 2005.
The Criminal Court convicted the pair based on detailed evidence from the victim. The court heard Surachat, or Seng Booncharoentham, 51, and accomplice Supin Maleek, 35, lured the victim from school by convincing her they were meeting the stepmother. Surachat raped the girl. The pair then took the girl back to her school. The court learned the girl developed a sexually transmitted infection following the assault. Ahead of the assault Surachat quit his job because the victim's stepmother refused to pay his salary demand of Bt10,000 a month. Supin was dismissed after being caught stealing.
