DTAC asks ICT for speed-up

Total Access Communication (DTAC) yesterday urged the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Ministry to order TOT completely to connect its 1.5 million new numbers with TOT's network as soon as possible.
DTAC CEO Sigve Brekke said if TOT could not finish the connection this week, DTAC would discuss with the state agency on how to speed up the process. TOT yesterday told the ICT Ministry it had already begun connecting its subscribers to the 1.5 million new phone numbers of DTAC and 1.5 million of True Move. The Central Administrative Court ordered TOT to enable such connections between TOT subscribers and new numbers of both DTAC and True Move until the court finished investigating their network-access dispute. The ruling followed a request in a court injunction by both cellular operators. The dispute began early this month after TOT declined to integrate new mobile-phone numbers from DTAC and True Move on the grounds that the companies have not paid their access charges. A telecom company needs all other operators to integrate new numbers into their switching systems, so that the numbers can be recognised by other networks. TOT's refusal to register new numbers from DTAC and True Move means calls from TOT subscribers will not reach their new numbers. Both cellular operators have already released some new numbers into the market. Telecom Reporters The Nation
