SCS ups its marketing budget

Company to spend Bt20 million pushing student shoes, eyeing 15% sales growth
SCS Sportswear, a marketer and distributor of student and sport shoes, has allocated Bt20 million for marketing its five products this year, hoping to achieve 15-per-cent sales growth. The brands are Popteen student shoes for girls, Breaker student shores for boys, Soldato fashion shoes for girls and Breaker and Ace sports shoes, mostly for boys. SCS assistant managing director Somrerk Vongveeranonchai said the company focussed on student shoes, as that market has shown promising growth for several years. In addition, its Popteen and Breaker brands tend to be more affordable than its competitors at Bt270-Bt280 and Bt240-Bt250 respectively. Half of the Bt20-million budget is allocated to strengthening staff for more shops and other "selling points" in shopping malls. The company has traditionally sold its products through 1,500 dealers around the country. Somrerk said Thai consumers today tend to buy products from shopping malls rather than from dealers as they can also enjoy other activities at the modern trade channel. The company says it saw 10-per-cent sales growth last year.
