LATE NEWS
True Value switches focus to become a distribution centre

True Value, an outlet for US tools, is being transformed from a retail channel into a distribution centre.

Boonying Kha-achapat, deputy CEO of True Value Home Improvement, said that in two years sales generated by other outlets would be on a par with its stand-alone outlets.

He said stand-alone outlets did not satisfy a new generation of consumers. For higher convenience, they shop at complexes where a variety of goods are available rather than visiting a speciality store.

"This forced us to revise our business plans," he said. "We will delay new-outlet opening and will go for more partners to put our products in their stores. Targets are Villa Market, Home Pro, Homeworks, supermarkets and shopping complexes. That would help us expand the distribution network of True Value products," he said.

RS digital content via kiosks

RS will provide digital content and expand its services such as film, music and digital content via kiosks by the end of the year.

Vorapoj Nimvijit, RS Digital's senior director, yesterday said the firm would focus this year on digital content related to sports and tutoring via mobile phone and Internet access.

Moreover, the company will provide new digital content package services depending on sex, age and behaviour of end users, aimed at providing products in line with customer segmentation.

"The new service will allow customers to download our digital content services depending on their needs and demands. It will support customers aged 16 to 45," said Vorapoj.
