LPG export duty announced

The Energy Policy and Planning Office yesterday said it had started levying additional duty on exported liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

The increase in duty is to ensure that there will be no shortage of LPG in the country, said deputy secretary-general Viraphol Jirapraditkul.

The exported gas will be taxed at Bt3.9682 a kilogram, which will raise the subsidy for domestic LPG to Bt1.771 a kilo, from Bt1.30 previously. The levy on exported gas will be changed once a week.

The ex-refinery price for gas, excluding value-added tax, will be Bt12.4569 a kilo. Gas produced in the country and imported for domestic consumption will be sold at Bt11.8409 a kilo.
