IN BRIEF
JTEPA hearing results for NLA

The Cabinet yesterday order-ed the Foreign Ministry to pass the results of a public hearing into the proposed Japan-Thailand Economic Partnership Agreement (JTEPA) to the National Legislative Assembly for consideration.

Deputy Foreign Minister Sawanit Kongsiri said the Cabinet had acknowledged the ministry's comments on the hearing.

Although the draft agreement was completed almost a year ago, political uncertainty in Thailand has prevented the governments of the two countries from inking the deal. - The Nation.

Engage Thailand

Thailand will host Engage Thailand 2007 in Bangkok from Monday to Wednesday of next week, to encourage cooperation in information and communications technology between Europe and Southeast Asia.

The event, which will bring together researchers from Europe and Thailand, will focus on creating opportunities for joint research in an area playing an increasingly important role in Thai-EU cooperation.

Featured will be a training workshop and networking sessions to help forge partnerships. The event will also provide an opportunity to generate proposals and build international consortia at the very start of the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technology Development. - The Nation.
