Sondhi's charges

Media tycoon Sondhi Limthongkul reported to public prosecutors yesterday to formally acknowledge criminal charges related to his crusade against the Thaksin Shinawatra regime.

Sondhi's first case stemmed from him leading anti-Thaksin protesters to camp out at Government House last February.

Police recommended Sondhi and eight protest organisers be tried for disturbing social peace and other offences. A decision on whether to prosecute will be made on February 28.

In the second case, police found Sondhi may have defamed the Shinawatra and Damapong families when he accused Thaksin of being involved in the Shin Corp sale.

The third case alleges Sondhi slandered Thaksin.

Prosecutors are due to rule on the second and third cases on February 2.
