Decision on Don Muang

The decision on Thai AirAsia's attempt to return to Don Muang Airport looks likely to drag on past April, Chotisak Asapaviriya, president of Airports of Thailand (AOT), said yesterday.

Chotisak said that in the next week or two, a committee would convene to discuss details concerning the viability of public transportation, particularly airport buses and taxis.

Plans to combat the possible return of organised crime to the former airport would also be reviewed, he said.

The negotiation was unlikely to conclude anytime soon, let alone by April, Chotisak said, because the process would have to go through the Ministry of Transportation and public hearings.

Making Don Muang a domestic airport with some international flights would require talks with other airlines, the AOT president added.

Thai AirAsia CEO Tassapon Bijleveld has asked the ministry to reconsider its current stance.
