Civil rights :Protesters who invaded Govt House last year won't be prosecuted: OAG

The Attorney-General's Office yesterday declined to prosecute 32 protesters for breaking into the Government House compound exactly a year ago, citing civil rights protected by the 1997 constitution.
A few thousand government detractors held a night rally led by media mogul Sondhi Limthongkul outside of the Government House compound, calling for embattled premier Thaksin Shinawatra's removal from power. The 32 suspects were arrested after hundreds of the demonstrators stormed the compound. The Attorney-General's Office said the group had the right to stage a peaceful rally under the law. The police investigation also found that they had not caused any property damage or incited any violence.
