Noranit, deputies get Royal nod
His Majesty the King endorsed Noranit Sethabutr as chairman of the Constitution Drafting Assembly and Seri Suwanapanont and Decho Saowananont as his two deputies in a royal command issued yesterday.
The 100-member CDA elected the three during its first session on Monday.The CDA is expected to meet informally next Monday. On Tuesday it will review the appointment of committees to assist in the charter writing process and set the stage for picking 25 members for the charter drafting panel. Under the interim constitution, the CDA has two weeks to name the charter writers after convening its first session. It has about a week left to finalise its decision. The CDA's charter writers will join 10 chosen by the Council for National Security to frame a draft constitution within the 180-day deadline. The CNS has said it would unveil its selection by the first week of next month.
