Iran-Thailand trade up 57 per cent over 10 months

The Iranian ambassador to Thailand said on Saturday that 57.85-per-cent growth was recorded in the volume of trade exchanged between the two countries over the first 10 months of last year.
Mohsen Pakayeen told the Islamic Republic News Agency that based on statistics released by the Thai Commerce Ministry, bilateral trade stood at US$488.5 million (Bt17.36 billion), which is strongly up on last year's figure for the same period. "Of this amount, $438.7 million was accounted for by Thai goods exported to Iran, which showed a 59.56-per-cent increase over last year's similar period," he said. "Iranian products exported to Thailand over the period were worth $49.8 million, showing a 44.22-per-cent increase." The 10 major Thai products exported to Iran over the 10-month period were rice, radio and television sets, air conditioners and parts, synthetic fibres, rubber, iron and steel products, colour television tubes, paper, rubber products, microwaves and electronic devices. The five main Iranian products exported to Thailand over the period were chemicals, iron and steel, stones, fresh and frozen processed aquatics, and machinery and parts.
