Revenue's new chief

The Cabinet yesterday approved the Finance Ministry's proposal to appoint Sanit Rangnoi as director-general of the Revenue Department after the sacking of Sirote Swasdipanich, who was accused of failing to collect tax from members of the Shinawatra family.
Sanit is a former director-general of the Excise Department and also used to work at the Revenue Department. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister MR Pridiyathorn Devakula said he had assigned his deputy Sommai Phasee to make a reshuffle of key finance posts. He is confident that Sanit and other appointees can meet a revenue target of Bt1.42 trillion for the 2007 fiscal year. Wisudhi Srisuphan, director-general of the Treasury Department, is transferred to head the Excise Department. Chavalit Sethameteekul is appointed as director-general of the Customs Department to replace Sathit Limpongpan, who is transferred to be deputy permanent secretary for finance. And Puntip Surathin is promoted to be director-general of the Treasury Department. Wichit Chaitrong, The Nation
