Bomb alerts prove false

Nonthaburi police yesterday received hoax calls that bombs had been planted at the Ngamwongwan branches of Panthip Plaza and The Mall.

Police received a telephone call saying a suspicious package had been found in the parking lot of Panthip Plaza.

Police checked the parking lot but did not find anything suspicious. Even while they investigating, they were alerted about another possible bomb at The Mall, but this also proved to be a false alarm.

A similar bomb threat was also reported at the Big C department store's Lat Phrao branch.

Meanwhile, shoppers panicked after two big bags were found outside the Onnuj branch of Carrefour. Police and bomb experts checked the bags and found they only contained clothes. The owner later claimed the bags saying he had put them down to shop inside. He was warned to be more careful about not frightening the public.
