Gen Sonthi rushes back to BKK following multiple bomb attacks

Army Commander in Chief Gen Sonthi Bunyaratglin cancelled all his schedule in Saudi Arabia and rushed back to Bangkok following the multiple bomb explosions in Bangkok on new year's eve, an informed source said Monday.
Sonthi who travelled to holy city Mecca to represent Thai government in Haj pilgrimage on Thursday decided to cancel his plans that included talks with high-ranking officials of Organisation of Islamic Conference.
It is reported earlier that Sonthi planned to use the discussion to seek cooperation from the prestige Islamic organisations to solve the daily violence in the southern provinces of Thailand.
The source said however OIC officials understood the situation that led to Sonthi's decision to cancel the discussion.
Earlier Sonthi was granted an audience with Saudi's King and conveyed to HM a note from Thai Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont which was reportedly about the Thai attempt to heal the sour bilateral relations.
Meanwhile Surayud told a press conference in Bangkok on Monday that he already discussed the bomb attacks in Bangkok with Sonthi who was on his way back to Bangkok.
The multiply bomb attacks in Bangkok on the eve of new year killed at least 3 persons and injured about 30 people.
