Sipa to show two in-house animated short films

The Software Industry Promotion Agency's (Sipa) local branch will screen its two in-house short animation films next month.
"The two animation stories will showcase the capability of local Chiang Mai producers and the cutting-edge technology of Sipa. They will soon build a bridge for Chiang Mai producers to present themselves to overseas animation markets," Peerapong Duangrat, head of Sipa's animation and multimedia project, said yesterday. "Lanna" and "Survivor", which run about 12 minutes, will be shown on January 19. Both plots focus on battles but with different scenarios. The fantasy "Lanna" concentrates on Lanna martial arts while "Survivor" is an action story depicting a battle between a robot and humans. The two shorts were produced by students of Sipa's three-month pre-professional and professional animation courses in Chiang Mai. "Both short stories are undergoing editing and are expected to be completed by January in time for the inaugural screening at Central Airport Plaza", Peerapong said. Sipa has set an agenda to push for Chiang Mai to become an animation hub in the near future and to promote software development in the region by focusing on designing technology and producing qualified manpower.
