Crown Prince to pilot flight for charity

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn will pilot a special charity flight named "Sai Yai Rak Haeng Khrobkhrua" (Family Bonds) on January 5 to raise funds for people affected by floods and violence in the three southernmost provinces.
The Crown Prince's wife HRH Princess Srirasmi, his daughter HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana and his baby boy HRH Prince Teepangkorn Rasmichoti, would join him on the Boeing 737-400 aircraft bound for Chiang Mai. They would return to Bangkok on the following day. Thai Airways International president Apinan Sumanaseni said yesterday that the Prince initiated the project as he was very concerned about the widespread flooding and the continuing turbulence in the deep South. All proceeds from ticket sales would be used to help flood victims and provide medical equipment and supplies to hospitals in the three border provinces. Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont, some Cabinet members and selected guests including THAI's Royal Orchid customers, whose names would be announced today, will also be invited on the overnight trip. The guests include executives of major state enterprises, commercial banks and leading companies. In Chiang Mai, the Prince will host a royal dinner banquet for the travelling companions at the Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi and give souvenirs to all donors, Apinan said. - The Nation
