Late news :LG to set up new microwave oven

LG Electronics (Thailand) will allocate a minimum investment of Bt300 million next year to set up a new production line for microwave ovens at its factory in Rayong.

The move will help the South Korean-based home-appliance manufacturer reduce the cost of its microwave ovens at least 10 per cent by having local production replace imports.

New TKS plant

TKS Technology expects sales growth of 20 per cent, or Bt1.2 billion, next year after its new plant is completed and starts operating next year, says company chairman Suphan Mongkolsuthi.

He added that the printing business had targeted growth next year of 10-15 per cent, following demand for packaging and print orders for the new election that might start next year.

Switch in US

The US Commerce Department announced it would change an anti-dumping practice that exporters from Japan, the EU, Thailand and other countries say unfairly penalised their products, reports the Bloomberg News Agency.

Complying with decisions by the World Trade Organisation (WTO) over the last two years, the US will end a process of "zeroing" prices for imports that domestic producers contend are being illegally dumped or subsidised.
