Suspected insurgents torch school and kill two

Suspected Muslim insurgents Monday torched a school and killed a soldier and civilian in Pattani province.

Sgt Ruslan Wadeng was shot dead while riding to work in Pattani province by suspected militants on a passing motorbike. Ruslan, who was attached to a local army camp in the area, died at the scene.

In a separate attack, gunmen on motorbikes killed Somjit Buranathorn, travelling in Nongchik district of Pattani province.

Earlier in the day, the insurgents burned down a government-run school in Pattani province.
