IN BRIEF
Thai AirAsia heads for old US base in RP

Thai AirAsia is among three international airlines launching services to what was once known as Clark Air Force Base, north of Manila on the Philippine island of Luzon, says the airport president Victor Jose Luciano.

The former US military base has been renamed Diosdado Macapagal International Airport, after a former Philippines president and the father of President Gloria Arroyo.

The Philippine Daily Inquirer reports that Hong Kong Airways began four flights a week this past Sunday, flying Boeing 737s.

Tair of Saudi Arabia will also fly four times a week to the new airport from Riyadh and Jeddah beginning in the mid8dle of next month. Luciano was quoted as saying Tair's operations, using Boeing 747s, would be a big help to the 1.4 million Filipinos working in Saudi Arabia.

Luciano said Thai AirAsia, to begin flights in January or February, would be the third budget airline located at the airport, following Singapore's Tiger Airways and Malaysia's AirAsia.

Clark International Airport Corp, which runs the airport, has earmarked 150 million Philippine pesos (Bt107 million) for civil works and equipment for expanding the airport's terminal.

SunSilk's Colour Shine System

Unilever Thai Trading's SunSilk brand is shaking up Thailand's hair-care market with its latest SunSilk Colour Shine System range, designed to enhance the shine in coloured hair. The company has set aside a marketing budget of more than Bt140 million to support the innovative product.

Wannipa Bhakdibutra, Unilever Thai Trading's vice president for personal care, said the SunSilk Colour Shine System added vibrancy and shine to coloured hair. The company will campaign to boost the new product's sales next year.
