Fighting sex crimes

The British Embassy has arranged specialist training for 26 Thai and two Lao women police officers investigating sex crimes against children.

The course, which started on Monday and ends tomorrow, is being conducted by the Child Online and Exploitation Programme (CEOP), affiliated with the UK's Serious and Organised Crime Agency.

It is being held in Bangkok at the US-funded International Law Enforcement Academy, which is providing administrative support.

Principal trainer Tim Gerrish said yesterday that "we continually share the very latest techniques and best practice with professionals in the field with a view to learning from our experiences and developing methods, which are both effective and realistic for the environment in which they are applied."

CEOP is a member of the Virtual Global Task Force and works with

law enforcement agencies around the world to fight sexual abuse of

children online.
