Recruiters see better market

After a big slow-down earlier in the year, the job-recruitment market has picked up in this second half, reflecting local firms' improved attitudes in regard to economic and political stability, says staffing and recruitment agency Kelly Services Staffing (Thailand).
Demand for new employment, from mid- to upper-level positions, has increased dramatically since July, country manager Wanna Assavakarint said yesterday. "We've seen dramatic demand for many jobs, including engineers, IT specialists, pharmacists, sales and telemarketers," she said. Most employees would enjoy a salary increase of 20-30 per cent by changing jobs. General bachelor's-degree graduates start at Bt10,000 to Bt12,000 a month, while IT specialists and engineers can command monthly starting salaries of Bt14,000 to Bt16,000. Kelly Services recently conducted a global workplace survey, which found that the overwhelming majority of Thai employees were happy in their work and believed that their bosses were doing a good job.
