Two students seriously injured in bomb attack in Narathiwat

Two students were seriously injured when a bomb explosion hidden in a bush in front of their school in Narathiwat's Waeng district early Thursday morning.
One of the students, Chutakul Promokart, 17, was seriously injured with knees and shoulders wounds from the blast.She was initially rushed to a hospital nearby but her condition was so serious that officials have to transfer to another hospital in the province's Sungai Kolok district. Police said the blast occurred at about 7am when students were heading to the school for their morning classes. Some Students were exiting a school bus that had pulled up to the Wiengsawan Vitayakhom second school. Initial investigation showed that the explosives were hidden in a bush in front of the school. Both students, Chutakul and her friend, Wannaporn Kwanthong, 16, were riding on a motorcycle near the entrance of the school when the bomb went off. The explosion also injured a soldier guarding the front gate; Cpl Worawut Samaksamarn, 22, and a villager, Heesa Dohloh, 39. It was the first time that the students became the targets of the attacks.
