Highlights of the week :National Legislative Assembly to vote on committees and debate 2007 Budget Bill

The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) votes this Wednesday for members of its 30 committees.
The assembly committees monitor ministers and their ministries and examine reports and meetings. Wednesday sees the NLA debate the 2007 Budget Bill as well.
Commission wraps up Bhanapot inquiry The National Counter Corruption Commission on Thursday is expected to conclude an investigation into the merits of allegations that the brother-in-law of ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra "covered up the truth" to evade tax. The commission is one of four anti-graft agencies looking into the allegations. Bhanapot Damapong, brother of Thaksin's wife Pojaman, denies evading tax on the 1997 sale of 4.5 million Shinawatra Computer and Communications shares worth Bt738 million. He said he would fight any conviction in the Supreme Court.
30,000 expected at pro-democracy rally Pro-democracy groups plan to rally at Sanam Luang on Constitution Day on Sunday. The groups' estimated 30,000 demonstrators are marching to demand elections within three months. The government and Council for National Security are satisfied the rally will pose no security threat.
