In brief :Phuket triathlon A record 1,000 triathletes from 40 countries including title-holders Greg Bennett from Australia and Canadian Samantha McGlone will plunge into the Andaman Sea today to start the gruelling Laguna Phuket Triathlon.
Among them, 750 athletes will take part in the individual event, while the remainder will be competing in the team relay. Competitors will have to swim 1.8km, ride 55km before hitting the finishing line after a 12km run.
