Aekapan doubtful for tie

[SOCCER] With diminutive striker Aekapan Intasen still struggling with a foot injury, Thailand's Under-23 squad coach Chanwit Pholchivin is likely to field an unchanged side against Kyrgyzstan in their Asian Games Group C second match tomorrow.
Chanwit's side sorely missed the pace and sharpness of first-team striker Aekapan in the opening match against unfancied Palestine as Thailand's attack appeared toothless for most part of the game before scraping a 1-0 win through an early goal from Suchao Nutchnum. Should Aekapan fail to recover from the injury, Chanwit will use the same line-up to qualify for the knockout phase with a second successive win over Kyrgyzstan, who had been drafted into the group following the withdrawal of Yemen. "The team is in good shape but for minor niggles to players Datsakorn Thonglao [groin], Kiartprawut Saiwaew [thigh] and Teeratep Winothai [knee]," said Chanwit. "There is nothing to be concerned about and every one should be fit for the game. The only injury doubt is Aekapan who sustained a foot injury during the training and would have a late fitness test," the coach said. "He [Aekapan] can jog now but it remains to be seen whether he can take an instep shot. If he cannot do that, we will keep him on the bench. I will use Anon Sangsanoi to partner Teeratep up front," said Chanwit.
