Thailand add to medal haul

Rookie Wittay Peem-mee claimed two gold medals in the men's wheelchair tennis competition, as Thailand stayed in second place in the medals standings of the Fespic Games in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
The 34-year-old Wittay beat compatriot Tanin Wichiansri 2-0 in the men's singles final showdown before the two, along with Peth Rungsri, teamed up to beat South Korea 2-1 in the team final for the second gold.The Thai tennis squad's third gold medal came in the women's team event. The pair of Ratana Techamaneewat and Sakho Khanthasit beat China 2-0 in the final. Thailand's three other gold medals were in athletics. Prawat Wahoram won the 10,000m, Peth Rungsri landed the 400m and Supachai Koysab triumphed in the 200m. The boccia team took the seventh gold for the Kingdom. China will be crowned overall champions after already scooping 199 gold medals, 72 silvers and 36 bronzes. Thailand, with 61 golds, 42 silvers and 47 bronzes, are second but the position might change if third-place South Korea can catch up today, which is the last day of competition. They have won 57 golds, 42 silvers and 43 bronzes.
