Govt revives TV programme

Government spokesmen and Cabinet members will go on TV and radio next week to inform the public of the interim administration's performance.
Government Spokesman Yongyuth Maiyarap said yesterday his team would revive the old TV programme Direct Line from the Cabinet.Yongyuth said the programme used to be on air every Tuesday afternoon but the new programme would be broadcast at a different time and its name might be changed. In the former programme, government spokesmen and Cabinet members took turns to talk to the public about issues approved by the Cabinet. "But the new programme will not talk only about Cabinet meetings. It will inform the public about the overall performance of the government," Yongyuth said. "Cabinet members and even the prime minister himself will be invited to talk to the public. "The programme should begin next week." He said the government would not revive the Saturday morning radio talk hosted by ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra. Yongyuth admitted his team had a problem in informing the public about the work of the government and had been trying to improve its performance in recent weeks. The government spokesmen will meet again today to discuss measures for improving their public relations efforts.
