Triple T ready for DTAC deal

Triple T Broadband is expected to sign an interconnection rate agreement with Total Access Communication (DTAC) next week, its senior executive said.

Supot Tiarawut, senior vice president for corporate strategy and planning at TT&T, parent of Triple T, said Triple T has also begun talking with True Corp about a similar deal.

TT&T is also expected to forge a similar deal with Advanced Info Service next week.

Triple T is a licensee of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), while TT&T and AIS have operated under TOT concessions.

Last Friday the cellular operators DTAC and True Move signed the industry's first bilateral interconnection agreement.

The charge, which was imposed by the NTC, requires all telecom operators to share voice and data revenue between the networks involved in the calls.

DTAC and True Move agreed on the rate of Bt1 per minute.

The other telecom operators are seeking to finalise rates.

NTC secretary-general Suranan Wongvithayakamjorn said yesterday that the NTC is considering if it will approve their rates once the operators submit them individually, or wait for all operators to reach deals.
