In Brief :High-end homes for Hua Hin

The B Plus Group has launched a new property project called Hua Hin Horizon, worth Bt400 million and aimed at the high-end market, says managing director Daran Yaowaratana.

The project is located on Phetkasem Road in Hua Hin district of Prachuap Khiri Khan. Houses will cost from Bt3 million to Bt8 million.

Daran said the company expected to close sales by the middle of next year and transfer the houses to customers in the first quarter of 2008.

Logistics forum in Bangkok

Growing customer expectations and competition from mega-players amid global consolidation in the logistics industry are making it difficult for Asia's third-party players to grow within the region.

To address these issues, Asian logistics companies are coming together for a pan-Asian forum, to formulate new directions and initiatives for Asia's supply-chain developments.

Supply Chain Asia Forum 2007, to be held in Bangkok next January 10-11, will allow industry leaders from the Asia-Pacific to connect, communicate and collaborate on issues specific to the region.

The YCH Group's Robert Yap, who is also founding chairman of Supply Chain Asia, said that as an Asian player striving to grow in this region, the group knows that winning customers and competing with the big boys are two of the toughest challenges facing the industry today.

Yap said mega-mergers like DHL acquiring Exel had created a more competitive environment for Asian firms. However, with customers growing aggressively in Asia, there is a real need for Asian logistics players with depth and a network within the region.
