Heineken to bring C-L on local TV

Thai fans passionate about sports such as golf and soccer need not have to tune in to the cable TV to get some world class events.
Heineken, which kicked off its Champions Planet campaign, will bring home live the Uefa Champions League, the European soccer tournament watched by over four billion people all over the world, on channels 3 and 7 until May 23 next year. Heineken, which is one of the official sponsors of the Uefa Champions League, has also been awarded the rights to promote the annual tournament globally. The five-year sponsorship agreement signed last year with Uefa has endorsed Heineken to promote the soccer competition in major markets including Thailand until 2009. Another special treat for Thai soccer enthusiasts is the opportunity to meet world-class players who will be in Thailand next year. During March 27 to April 1, international soccer stars will bring the Uefa Champions League trophy, one of the most highly-coveted trophies in the world, to Thailand. Heineken has also announced its sponsorship for two major golf tournaments - the Royal Trophy and the Golf Championship. The Royal Trophy, to be held in Bangkok from January 12 to 14, is a tournament where golfers from Europe and Asia compete against each other. Heineken will hold the Golf Championship for Thailand's best amateur golfers. Interested golfers can enrol in the programme in mid 2007.
