PM seeks policy fine-tuning

Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont called Cabinet members for a special meeting at Baan Phitsanuloke last night where they discussed the implementation of government policies, Government Spokesman Yongyuth Mayalarp said.

A government source said the premier used the meeting to once again tell Cabinet members to do their best to enact the policies he declared to the National Legislative Assembly last Friday.

Surayud would announce details of the meeting to the press today, the spokesman said. After the policy declaration there had been both suggestions and criticisms, so the prime minister wanted enhancements made, he said.

"Each ministry will present these to the Cabinet," Yongyuth said.

He said the meeting emphasised harmony, including in the deep South. Cabinet members would still attend their regular meeting today, Yongyuth said.
