Good news for fans of Italian food - Giorgio's by the river is floating again
The Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel and Towers recently celebrated the reopening of the old Bangkok favourite, Giorgio's Italian restaurant, after extensive renovation work. The new look features chandeliers and mahogany columns to go with the Mediterranean patina on the walls. The ambience is light, warm and contemporary, aided by the expansive views of Chao Phya River. "We are very pleased to be re-launching Giorgio's, which was Bangkok's first traditional Italian restaurant by the river," says Wayne Buckingham, managing director of the Royal Orchid Sheraton. "Diners will find a modern, relaxed style with exceptionally friendly service at the new restaurant. But we've also made sure that Giorgio's retains the warm and comfortable atmosphere that people expect at the Sheraton." The grand reopening was presided over by the Italian Ambassador His Excellency Ignazio Di Pace. Guests enjoyed a night of fine Italian cuisine, live Opera and a spectacular fashion show. "We will be hosting a string of celebrated Italian chefs from around the world to bring the best Italian food to Bangkok," says Buckingham. "We are confident that local diners and tourists will enjoy Giorgio's excellent food now and for years to come."
Giorgio's has a choice of either air-conditioned comfort or alfresco dining on the terrace overlooking the Chao Phya River. It opens daily for dinner from 6 to 10.30pm. Call (02) 266 9214 for reservations.
