Late News :Jump TV seeks foreign content

Jump TV, a provider of television via the Internet, has signed an agreement with Asia Television and Media to help it negotiate with TV channels and producers in Thailand and Indochina to put their content on its IPTV (Internet Protocol TV) platform.

Kaleil Isaza Tuzman, president of Jump TV International, yesterday said the firm aimed to have 10 Thai channels join it, in addition to MVTV 1 and 2 and Wan Song Chai- already available on www.jumptv.com website.

The firm has also signed up with Channel 3 and the services will be available in one or two months, he said, with the primary focus on Thais in the US and Europe.

Prachai rejected

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) yesterday dismissed a news report quoting Prachai Leophairatana, CEO of TPI Polene , as saying the regulator used double standards in disqualifying four company executives and directors, including himself. Prachai said the SEC did not also disqualify the Thai Petrochemical (TPI) plan administrators even though they had also been charged.

SEC secretary-general Thirachai Phuvanatnaranubala said the securities watchdog would disqualify any executives and directors of listed companies when government agencies have taken legal action against them.

However, in cases where the private sector files complaints to police against executives, they will be disqualified only when the government agencies file legal action, he said.

Thirachai added that the Department of Special Investigation had filed legal action against TPI Polene's four executives, while the private sector has filed complaints to police against TPI's plan administrators.
