Surasak open to DSI post

The deputy director-general of the Department of Special Litigation, Surasak Treerattrakul, said yesterday he had been approached by senior Justice Ministry officials about taking the top post at the Department of Special Investigation (DSI).
Surasak was speaking after rumours in the ministry that he would be transferred to the DSI as its director-general. "I told them I am ready to work [in the post], but my transfer depends on the minister and ministry permanent secretary," he said. Current DSI chief Lt-General Sombhat Amornwiwat is likely to be to moved to the Office of the Royal Thai Police in a planned reshuffle of officials under the Justice Ministry. The reshuffle was supposed to have been sent for Cabinet approval last week but has yet to be completed. Acting Justice Ministry permanent secretary Jaral Phakdeethanakul said yesterday the list of transfers would not be submitted to the Cabinet meeting tomorrow because it was still not finished. "The reshuffle should not affect officials' spirit, so we have to do it carefully," he said.
