Uni Games targeted by the VAT

[VOLLEYBALL] The Volleyball Association of Thailand (VAT) has decided to withdraw their women's team from next year's World Grand Prix to focus on the World University Games, which Thailand will host from August 8-18 in Nakhon Ratchasima.

VAT secretary-general Shanrit Wongprasert said that since the two tournaments will be held at the same time, it is unlikely that Thailand can field teams in both tournaments.

"Those who will compete in the World Grand Prix and the World University Games are the same players and we find it very difficult to field teams in each event. Therefore, we have decided not to send our team to next year's World Grand Prix and they will train intensively for the World University Games instead," said Shanrit.

Next year's World Grand Prix is held from August 3-19, while the World University Games are from August 8-18 in the same province.
