Ministerial jobs :Surayud dismisses rumours of Cabinet expansion or reshuffle

Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont yesterday dismissed reports he was planning an early Cabinet reshuffle to add more ministers to help with the workload. He had no idea of an early shake-up, adding none of his Cabinet members had complained about their workload.
"My concept of work is simple. I just try to have things done as soon as possible," the interim PM said, referring to the one year period before a new government takes over. "When the major problems are eased, it will be time for this government to leave. As an interim administration, we are well aware of that fact. We aim to complete our tasks as soon as possible," he said.
Killer virus : Bird flu tops Vietnam visit Greater bilateral investment and preventing avian influenza will top the agenda when Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont meets the Vietnamese premier tomorrow. The one-day visit to Vietnam follows trips to Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. Surayud and his counterpart Nguyen Tan Dung will hold a joint cabinet meeting to discuss increasing bilateral trade and investment to US$5 billion (Bt192 billion). The two will also discuss further cooperation in public health and people-to-people relations.
Graft busting : Ratchada land deal on agenda The Assets Examination Committee (AEC) yesterday decided to probe three more complaints including a land deal involving Khunying Pojaman Shinawatra. AEC chairman Nam Yimyaem will head a panel to probe the allegation that the wife of deposed premier Thaksin Shinawatra, allegedly purchased a plot on Ratchadaphisek Road from the Asset Management Corporation at an "exceptionally low price". Saowani Assawaroj will lead the investigation into the complaint lodged by the Bank of Thailand against Krung Thai executives and staff for extending a Bt3-billion loan to a real-estate company.
